GETGO Mail.com Completes Prototype and Launches Marketing Efforts UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 25, 2000--GETGO Mail.com (Nasdaq:GTGO - news) announced that the GETGO Mail(TM) card prototype has been completed and is functional for demonstration.
GETGO Mail.com will commence its marketing campaign effective May 1, 2000, to demonstrate the working sample to prospective buyers including leading ISPs, Portals, and Vertical Internet Sites.
The prototype is based on patented technology developed by Visual Access Technologies (``VAT'') of New York. GETGO Mail has acquired a patent license from privately held VAT to develop, manufacture, market and sell a credit card-size device capable of receiving Internet Voice mail, E-mail and Fax mail downloads. The patent license allows GETGO Mail.com to make and sell products that provide a visual listing of voice mail and a link to the corresponding voice mail through an Internet Visual Access Platform. Although standard E-Mail has a header format that identifies the original sender, standard voice mail does not. Now, through GETGO Mail.com's technology, a format for establishing original sender headers for voicemail stored in E-mail boxes is available, thus allowing for access to voice mail as conveniently as if it were E-mail.
The current prototype successfully demonstrates the GETGO Mail card's ability to obtain Voice and E-mail header information and messages via a cellular telephone and/or a landline telephone. Linking codes assigned to each message header allow for a simple and seamless access to messages without any additional access or service fee. Additional functionality and services will be developed as requested by prospective customers of the device. The GETGO Mail(TM) card will be offered to the leading ISPs, Portals, and Vertical Internet Sites. |
