Can't resist, re abuse allegations. According to the NY Times article on the Gonzalez family, Elian's mother's mother -- i.e., Juan Miguel's former mother-in-law -- remains very, very close to the Gonzalez family. She is even in the Gonzalez "family picture" published in the Times. Don't think that would be the case, if Juan Miguel had abused her daughter. (He did, however, "run around.") The one she accuses of abusing her daughter is the boy friend, who drowned along with Elizabeth. Confusion here, perhaps?
