I can confirm that EMC's latest management software
will handle Brocade MIBs. The company had no choice,
but was unhappy about the hassle factor. The
inconvenience shall be temporary. Today's
announcement that Brocade agreed to join the
Fibre Alliance was undoubtedly based on a "Come
to Jesus" meeting with the top dogs at EMC. They
gave Brocade an ultimatum and Reyes fell to his
knees asking for forgiveness. Maybe it's me
but I detect an harsh edge in comments from
EMC's spokesman as quoted by the NY Times/TSC
timestamped at 4:17PM EST.

Data General has been using Brocade switches for
some time. That we all know. But the announcement
today stressed enterprise storage which is the
main company's domain. Furthermore, there is
more good news regarding Ancor switches that was
left unsaid for the time being.

On the independent testing front, I heard that Ancor
is coming through with flying colors. Looking at
preliminary data, the Ancor SANbox switches seem to
perform at *FULL* speed for any port configuration.
I think this is significant news.
