The general public doesn't drive the market. Institutions control the majority of the float for CSCO, EMC, MSFT, INTC, SUNW, etc. Any analysis that is rooted in pop psychology and pre-supposes that the majority investors in the leading tech stocks are blindly placing bets, casino-style, is IMO wrong. There are lots of mixed messages in the financial media, partly because the financial community makes money when people buy and sell. But the best move for most individuals is to buy companies like Cisco, hold them for the long haul, save money every month, and add to positions on the dips.
