<<Much of the diversification investment will go toward a flat-rate, wireless Internet access service to be launched by a joint venture formed last year among Tepco, Softbank Corp. (J.SFT or 9984) and U.S. software giant Microsoft Corp. (MSFT).

The new venture, called Speednet Inc., will use wireless technology to link computer users to Tepco's existing 40,000-km-long network of optical-fiber lines and then to the Internet. Tepco will spend Y30 billion to extend the optical lines for the project in the next three years, the official said.>>
