Unites States is still the worlds biggest homogeneous market, and that is what makes its strength. In Europe, we have a bigger market, but so heterogeneous that a small company cannot start selling in all countries at once. The only thing that could threaten the US market as the biggest is the Internet. But that will only do for bits and bytes and B2B. Remember, that if you cannot find a job in New York, you can go to California. The same isn't possible in Europe or on the Internet, simply because of the language barriers.
