The revenues and aggregate number of customers of associated companies with mobile communications operations continued to exhibit strong growth; Turkcellïs result, however, is weakened by a tax on mobile phones. The Groupïs operating profit was weakened by outlays on new businesses. Profit before extraordinary items and taxes was EUR 113 million (EUR 107 million in the first quarter of 1999). Earnings per share without extraordinary items amounted to EUR 0.12 (EUR 0.11), whereas after extraordinary items they were EUR 0.06.
