OK, let's look at the way Elian has "lived" since coming here. In the eye of the media almost 24 hours a day, stopped going to school, in the middle of constant upheaval and hysteria, kept away from his surviving parent, being held up as an "icon" and almost worshiped, and now to be fought over in court indefinitely. This is a normal and good way for a 6 year old who lost his mother to live? You can call Juan Miguel an unfit parent because he wants to return to Cuba with his family (though I wouldn't, BTW), but I would call the Miami relatives totally unfit to provide Elian with a secure, stable life. "Freedom" is never absolute.
