Oh come on now, as if the U.S. has a moral leg to stand on by isolating Castro because he's a ruthless communist tyrant. Apparently, it's OK for the U.S. to trade with and support tyrants when they support our interests, for example: Marcos in the Phillipines, Pinochet in Chile, The Shaw (sp?) of Iran, Saddam Hussien of Iraq in the 1980s in the Iran/Iraq war (that's right we supported Saddam Hussien in the 80s). The sad thing is that if Castro was a ruthless right-wing tyrant, we'd probably have normal relations and trade with Cuba. Isolating Cuba during the cold war could be justified because it gave the Soviets a base too close to home. But now the cold war has ended and Castro just happens to be a communist dictator instead of a right-wing dictator (as if there is really much of a difference, both are dictators), so the embargo continues.

Castro is a relic of the cold war who will soon be a footnote in history. It's time to normalize relations with Cuba, so we can influence the direction of post-Castro Cuba. I'm not going to rely on those reactionary exile Cubans to set things straight in Cuba. The guy before Castro (Badista?) was no saint either. We don't need a bunch of exile Cubans seeking revenge when Castro is dead. We need a transition to democracy in Cuba.
