Something just does not add up here and I was wondering if any of you guys could help me figure it out. Explosive growth in data storage requirement to support internet growth, with every company in sight developing data intensive web sites... EMC (The corporate data storage king) is growing like a weed... Transition to GMR heads... And (my slightly cynical paraphrased interpretation of Mr. Braun's comment) ..."the HDD industry just doesn't really need any equipment right now thank you?" That does not add up to me and causes me to postulate an alternate hypothesis. Does VECO have stronger competitors who are more effectively stealing their business? (e.g. - Varian Semiconductor, a manufacturer of ion beam deposition equipment, just reported a greater than tripling of their gross from ~ $50,000,000.00 to ~$184,000,000.00 this quarter) Any learned reconciliation of the above appreciated Don
