i wholeheartedly agree with the conclusions presented in the article.

as the novelty of various net playthings like fleabag wears off, so does the revenue growth.
of course they may decide to expand internationally, but there's already well-established fierce competition in Europe e.g.
actually there are now so many auctioneers on the net, it's really become an extremely crowded business. the same holds actually true for virtually every other net based business as well.
imo the true significance of the net for the economy is anyway the fact that it allows firms to centralize their purchasing and distribution, thus driving down costs (and in the process driving suppliers margins to near zero).
it will create a myriad of operating efficiencies for established businesses while at the same time destroying the essence of profit margins, which is informational deficits.
but making money from the net directly? forget it...will never work, with the occasional exception confirming the rule.
