Context switching has to be done by any multi-tasking os. However, cooperative multitaskers are at the mercy of ill-behaved apps. That was the main knock against win3.x because an ill-behaved windows app could crash the whole system. This can happen with MAC too. With Win95, the app has to behave much worse than it had to in order to bring the system the down. An improvement.
