WALL STREET JOURNAL - April 23, 1997 - "Dirty Work: Web Screeners Block Smut !" - WALL STREET JOURNAL - 1997 "Nelson Media Research found that employees at Apple/IBM/AT&T together visited the Penthouse Website 12,823 times in a single month (based on an avg. 13min. equates to 347 lost 8hr days)"
The Media Loves It and So Do We - We feel Internet Security and Protection for Children in the wake of Freedom of Speech on the Internet will soon be an Explosive sector that will offer the potential for gains often limited to the Resource Sector but without many of the inherent risks often associated with this industry.
WHY ? President Clinton in April re-affirmed his intention to see the Internet in Every School and Library in the U.S. by the year 2000. There are approx. 64 MILLION CHILDREN in U.S. Schools alone (47% elementary, 21% High School, 11% Kindergarten, ) ! In Canada, SchoolNet is being established which will see over 16,000 schools on the web by the end of 1998.
As a parent or guardian ask yourself this... would you sit your kids down in front of the T.V. alone if you knew 8 of your 50 cable Channels were dedicated to Pornography, Bomb Making or The Finer Points of Cult Life ? Parents and Teachers cannot possibly monitor children all the time and as a result there will be a TREMENDOUS market for computer programs that can. The cost of the software is nothing in comparison to the damage which can be done to a child who stumbles across one of these sites. With the world-wide web near the 50 million user mark and growing rapidly, the tremendous potential in our mind resembles the early days of NETSCAPE.

NET NANNY SOFTWARE(NNS:VSE $0.78 cdn) 6.9 Million Issued

Briefly mentioned by us on Feb 19/97 at $0.60 when we passed on a recommendation from "Bidding on Bay Street" but we have not commented a lot since. The stock hit a subsequent high of $0.94 a few weeks later but has fallen back lately as the VSE lost 30%. For years the company has concentrated on the business of software development and marketing and only in the last month or so have they realised the importance of a good investor relations program.
MAY/97 SHOULD MARK AN IMPORTANT TURNING POINT IN THE STOCK PRICE OF NET NANNY AS THE CORPORATE (SCHOOL)VERSION IS SCHEDULED FOR RELEASE IN THE NEXT FEW WEEKS.
Why does Net Nanny present a tremendous Investment Opportunity ?
The world market is dominated by approx. 5 such products - each has their finer points as well as their downfalls. We have spent the past month or more doing extensive due diligence on this sector and have arrived at the following based upon published reports by well noted computer and technology magazines: The Top Contenders (in order) in this marketplace are
1) CyberPatrol by Microsystems Software - PRIVATE CO, 2) Cybersitter by Solid Oak - PRIVATE CO. 3) Net Nanny Software - Market Cap. $4 million cdn - VSE 4) SpyGlass Inc. - Market Cap. $135 million cdn - Nasdaq 5) Net Shephard - Market Cap. $34 million cdn - ASE
Not only does Net Nanny offer one of the best products on the market with a rapidly expanding distribution network but the market cap. in comparison to the competition is dramatically undervalued (due primarily to lack of promotion which will soon change). Not to mention the current Top 2 are PRIVATE companies.
With the release sometime in the next few weeks of the Corporate Version, we expect to see some very serious interest in the stock. I/R is sending OVER 3000 Brokers / analysts / newsletter writers information on the company this month to coincide with the release of this new and very important product which will be sold to corporations and schools around the world. It is important to note that the State of California Dep't of Education has already approved Net Nanny as a suitable product for use in their school system. This sector will continue to draw media attention and the Net Nanny name is no stranger to them - in the past 18 mths they have been mentioned in Time Magazine, Time Digital, People Magazine, PC Magazine, The Financial Post, CNN and several Foreign Magazines and Newspapers. In 1997 Net Nanny was also a topic of Discussion on Oprah.
The Win95 version has only been readily available since the 1st of the year but it is quickly becoming a household name. With the continual improvements and testing the product is undegoing we would expect Net Nanny to be a contender for top spot this year. We will continue to closely follow Net Nanny in 1997 and would expect that this year it will provide the opportunity for some excellent capital gains.
