ROYCE GROUP DIAMOND PROJECT, NWT - UPDATE

GMD Resource Corp. (the "Company") reports that the winter 2000 field exploration program which included staking, airborne geophysical surveying and core drilling has been completed on the Royce Group Diamond Property situated 150 km north northwest of Yellowknife, NWT. Monopros Limited is the operator of the property. Monopros may earn a 51% interest in the property by incurring not less than $16,000,000.00 in four sequential programs by April 30, 2004.
The completion of the winter 2000 exploration drill program completes the Phase One program. Monopros and the Company report as follows;

Sample Processing
During the first quarter of 2000, sorting of sample concentrates from the 1999 summer till sampling program on the Royce property continued. Concentrates were sent to Monopros? Toronto sorting facility and De Beers? Kimlab sorting facility located in Kimberley, South Africa. Final indicator mineral picking results from 1143 till samples collected during the 1999 program have been received. The results have further defined a previously identified indicator mineral train into 2 parallel trains, one of which has a cut off fence of negative samples 2 kilometers beyond the last anomalous sample. Detailed sampling has also added definition to 6 other indicator mineral trains. Regional till sampling in areas with no previous coverage has yielded the initial recognition of 5 trains, 3 of which show delicate indicator mineral surface textures indicative of short transport distances. Microprobe confirmations from De Beers facility in South Africa are expected over the next two weeks.

Staking
Additional ground was staked contiguous to the Royce Group during the winter 2000 program. An additional 18,700 acres was acquired (11 new claims) in order to secure peripheral land containing previously identified anomalous till samples. These samples contain kimberlitic indicator minerals, some with surface textures representative of short transport distances. The newly acquired land also hosts many circular topographic lows possibly representing glacially scoured kimberlite which is often softer than the surrounding rock.

Airborne Geophysical Survey
Fugro Geoterrex-Dighem Inc. were contracted to conduct heliocopter borne magnetic and electromagnetic surveys over portions of the Royce property prior to commencement of the drill program. A crew of five spent 15 days on site between February 24 and March 9, 2000 carrying out the field work.
Survey lines were flown at 150m line spacing over a large block of previously unsurveyed ground. The survey included the new claims as well as the claims staked during the 1999 program which latter claims are collectively referred to as the "WL" block. Detailed geophysics at 50m, line spacing was also flown over seven small areas of interest. In total 3,448 line kilometers were flown. Final data is expected in early May, 2000. Preliminary field plots show several discrete magnetic/EM responses coincident with topographic lows.

Drilling
A total of eight geophysical targets were tested across the property with a heli-portable diamond drill rig. Holes were drilled either at a 45o angle from the side or vertically over the anomaly center, ranging in depth from 76 meters to 197 meters. The eight representative geophysical targets were explained but no kimberlite was intersected in any of the holes. In total 1,210 meters of drilling was completed.

Phase 2 (May 2000 - April 2001)
The Phase 2 program, will consist of the collection of up to 1,500 till samples focusing in the areas of the eight developing indicator trains as well as systematic sampling of the newly acquired ground. Detailed surficial mapping will also focus in these specific areas to assist in the definition of the up ice limitations of the trains. Anomaly specific detailed airborne surveys will be conducted next winter with drilling to follow upon target selection. The use of satellite imaging, remote sensing and detailed air photos will also be reviewed and considered.
Monopros and the Company are confident that the kimberlite indicator chemistry seen on the eastern Royce is not originating from the kimberlites discovered to the east on Monopros? Upper Carp property.
