GST,

There is a difference here in the US economy. The reason that labor markets are stressed is because we have a overly restrictive immigration policy. But that is being changed and the labor resources required will be found overseas and imported here.

That has been the way of America. We are much more tolerant of dealing with labor shortages by encouraging labor immigration and making these people citizens.

At least that is my belief on the matter.

But for the Japanese economy to grow in the face of decreasing native labor resources, they will have to learn to accept foreign workers and to integrate them into their society. That is something that I think the homogenous Japanese culture will have difficulty stomaching.

Additionally, the US economy has to develop more retraining programs (as well has take the public schools out of the hands of the NEA).
