Nextel raises forecast for subscriber growth
NEW YORK, April 26 (Reuters) - Wireless telephone company Nextel Communications Inc. said on Wednesday it expects to add more than 500,000 new U.S. subscribers per quarter in 2000, above its initial forecasts.
The company previously expected to add 450,000 to 475,000 domestic subscribers per quarter this year, but market demand and customer interest has accelerated.
Nextel now expects its full-year net subscriber additions to exceed two million customers.
In the first quarter, Nextel added 540,300 domestic subscribers and 93,700 international customers, bringing its total subscriber base to 5.6 million.
Nextel said its average revenue per subscribers should remain around first-quarter levels of about $72 a month during the rest of the year. |
