Yamakita, I think you need to focus on this: Part of that account is marginable, part isn't. and decipher marginable. Yes, your overall equity percent will drop because Softbank *is* part of your equity (just not marginable) and if it falls, your overall number falls, but it still won't trigger a margin call because the "equity" in your margin account is all that is considered in triggering margin calls. For things to play out as you outlined them Softbank would have had to be reclassified as marginable at some point - whatever the reason.

If you look at the numbers in my edit to the last post, the 80+40 scenario would have to be in deep doodoo to hit a margin call; the 20 (of the original 100) counts towards overall equity but not towards marginable equity. Not sure if that makes any more sense....
