The numbers are actually worse than at first glance.

Real PCE increased 8.3%, much bigger than the 5.9% Q4 gain.
Real final sales gain was 6.9% > the 6.0% in Q4.

Inventories and Net Exports kept the number below
7%. But with only 2 months worth of information the
Commerce department will probably have to raise
GDP in the revisions.

The Fed will not like these numbers at all. I even
imagine there will be some fingerpointing and "I told
you so's" at the May meeting.
