4/26/00 - Gateway, Verio offer Web services to small, medium cos

NEW YORK, April 26 (Reuters) - In its push to bust out from beyond the box, Gateway Inc. (GTW.N) the world's sixth personal computer maker, said on Wednesday it would team up with Web hosting services provider Verio Inc. (VRIO.O) and offer a wide range of online services to small and medium-sized businesses.
The alliance will offer customers Gateway's range of PCs, servers and Internet access services along with Web hosting, electronic commerce capabilities Web and database hosting services and other business applications and programmes small and medium businesses may need from Englewood, Colo.-based Verio. In that way, the alliance can set up and maintain the online business of a small or medium-sized company.

The services and products also can be integrated into a business' existing facilities, said Gateway, the No. 2 U.S. direct PC seller behind Dell Computer Corp. (DELL.O)

"Our alliance with Verio represents a significant next step in our strategy to guide our customers and deliver beyond-the-box services and solutions that will positively impact the way our clients work," Van Andrews, Gateway Business senior vice president said in a statement.

Prices will range from $19.95 to $69.95 a month and may include Web address registration as well as high-speed broadband Internet service.

"Together, Verio and Gateway have an extremely complementary set of products and broad distribution channels that create one of the most powerful business combinations to deliver world-class solutions for the SMB market," Justin Jaschke, Verio chief executive officer, said in a statement.
