I just don't understand what is so hard about this process..If they won't [like you say] transfer your account why don't you simply sell out of your position and issue yourself a check for the full cash balance? Yes this would really mess you up on any unrealized loss and also have tax implications if you are holding equities for over a year. But as stressed and upset as you sound maybe this is the option you need to take.
