I have been following the MSFT case closely and notice that the govt. will submit it's remedy proposals on Friday. Most are assuming that it will be broken up into several companies. MSFT has made it very clear they will appeal the decision. My questions are the following.
1. Does anyone have a sense of how long the appeal process will take? Can they appeal and appeal and appeal?
2. If the breakup occurs it makes sense to me to own the stock at that time to get in on each new company formed. Obviously the question hinges on the settlement. Or is it just wiser to stay out of the stock and see how each new company starts out (assuming the breakup) before buying into one?
3. Do you think MSFT is doing it's shareholders a disservice by fighting this to the end?
