"Smaller still but big on storage are compact flash cards, which are matchbook-size memory chips that behave just like disks but have no moving parts. Though compact flash cards cost more than Zip disks, the card readers themselves, which are no larger than a pack of cigarettes and are easy to carry, cost less than $50.

Sandisk's flash cards start at about $35 for 8 MB and go up to about $325 for 128 MB. Compact flash cards are especially suited to people who own a digital camera that stores snapshots on compact flash cards; all you need is the card reader to use the same storage cards with your desktop computer, or an adapter to pop the flash card into the PC card slot of your notebook computer. "
