I always expect that fill and try to judge the thinness based on previous distributions. The key in my mind is finding the stocks that have not gone through the D cycle and buying close to the baseline. It has worked for me but requires extreme patience, you are always buying deaders and waiting. It is however very exciting when things go, usually you can afford bumps after the first run-up. INY is a classic case. No distributions while falling from a dollar+, nice baseline at thirty cents with no action, then boom, away it went, topped out close to it's old top and then floated back down to hold in the .55-.60 range. When they fell through the established line on good news it was a good opportunity to buy. I really think that this one is going to heat up again after watching for the last threee weeks.
My current deader pick : NAI-ASE, has all the fundamentals in place for an excellent run-up, no runs through the D cycle and a good baseline.
