eMagin Corporation Announces Board of Directors; eMagin also Establishes Advisory Board
HOPEWELL JUNCTION, N.Y, Apr 27, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- eMagin Corporation (AMEX: EMA), a leading developer of virtual imaging technology, today announced the completion of its Board of Directors.
Gary Jones, founder, CEO and President of eMagin will serve as Chairman. He is joined by N. Damodar Reddy, co-founder, Chairman, CEO, and President of Alliance Semiconductor; Jack Rivkin, Executive Vice President, Citigroup Investments, Inc.; Ajmal Khan, founder and CEO of Verus International Group; Claude Charles, Director of Verus International, Ltd., and Martin Solomon, Chairman and CEO of American Country Holdings, Inc.
In addition, eMagin established a Board of Advisors consisting of designees from Eastman Kodak, Harris Corporation, Montgomery Asset Management, Clarion Capital Corporation, and Techalpha LLC. The group will participate in Board meetings in a non-voting, advisory capacity.
"The members of the Board of Directors and the Advisory Board bring a wealth of experience in the fields of finance, product development, and high volume manufacturing - all areas that are crucial to the growth of our company," said Gary Jones. "With access to such a wide knowledge base, along with our other technology and manufacturing activities, we are positioning eMagin to take full advantage of the great market potential in our industry."
eMagin is developing high resolution microdisplays, small flat panel displays that are optically magnified to produce virtually large images of data or video. For example, a 0.6-inch diagonal microdisplay could produce a virtual image equivalent to a 19-inch computer screen or a 60-in television to provide virtually large screens for Internet appliances, wireless telecommunication, wearable computers, and digital camera viewfinders.
eMagin's microdisplays are based on organic light emitting diode (OLED) technology licensed from Eastman Kodak and leveraged by its own patent portfolio. Because the technology being developed by eMagin is built directly on silicon integrated circuits, many computer and video electronic systems functions could potentially be embedded, which would result in a very compact integrated system with lower overall system costs. The company recently announced an agreement with IBM for joint development of OLED-on-silicon technology for virtual imaging applications. Stanford Resources, a leading market research firm, recently predicted that rapid developments in OLED technology are driving a high-growth forecast for this new display of $717 million in 2005.
