>>>Mr. Kumar also climbed on board with an "aggressive buy."<<<
I thought Kumar has a 'buy' on CPQ and didn't change his rating after Q1 announcement. Most of his comments were either negative or cynical, here is a collection of his comments from several published articles:
----------------- ''People want to see signs that things aren't getting much worse, and that's what they have here,'' said Ashok Kumar, an analyst with U.S. Bancorp Piper Jaffray, who rates Compaq a ''buy.'' ''This isn't a sign of improvement.''
''The company has completely lost traction in the corporate PC division,'' Kumar said. ----------------- Ashok Kumar, an analyst with US Bancorp Piper Jaffray, said Compaq must continue to improve the situation in the commercial PC group if it is to continue its turnaround. That will happen only if it can make that group more efficient, he said.
"It's really more of an expense-control story," he said. ----------------- Ashok Kumar, an analyst at US Bancorp Piper Jaffray, said the revenue weakness reflects delayed updates to Compaq's Tandem mainframe and high-performance Alpha computer lines. The big-computer unit "has fallen into the doldrums in the short term," he said. ----------------- Ashok Kumar, of US Bancorp Piper Jaffray, noted that Compaq will benefit from easier comparisons in the latter half of the year. In late 1999, Compaq cut production in order to reduce inventory as it converted to a more comprehensive direct-sales effort. ----------------- |
