It is also quite profitable for the longs. You know that every short adds to the demand for stocks. The short has to cover before he really loses his a-- big time, unless he discovers a way to live without it. You have heard of the short squeeze, haven't you. I've been in a few of them on the right side. It can be quite exhilirating.
