Dotconomics: A variation of economics that relies on fantasy, usually with hidden assumptions that, once exposed, crumble under the weight of their stupidity.

Example:

Dotconomics Claim:
Amazon has this terrific advantage in that they get paid by their customers before they have to pay their suppliers. This cash can be put to great use.

Dotconomics Fantasy: Visa, Mastercard, American Express are teaming together with Amazon's suppliers to give Amazon free use of money.

Economic Reality: Credit card companies and Amex all take a piece of the action which more than makes up for the fact that they put up the money quickly. Conversely, Amazon's suppliers set a price for their goods that takes into account the fact that they don't get paid until the end of the month. Thus, Amazon is paying for its use of the money.

Anyone else have an example of Dotconomics?
