I really don't think AMD's Sledgehammer will be able to compete against Foster in 32-bit performance, nor will it be able to compete against McKinley in 64-bit performance.

That remains to be seen. I am surprised that you don't think that Sledgehapmmer will be able to compete with Foster. I think AMD is going to try to stay competitive with Foster using the Athlon line of products. The next generation is not going to be any worse running 32 bit code.

Regarding Itanium, its even harder to compare it with Itanium, since both are unreleased products.
