Against Foster, AMD will be marketing a 64 bit processor against the "old technology" 32 bit Foster at the same price. Against McKinley, AMD's Sledgehammer, unlike the IA-64 dependent McKinley, will execute existing installed code better than than in place equipment demonstrating an immediate across the board performance gain while offering many of the "64 bit" capabilities of McKinley.

Will McKinley beat Sledgehammer on optimized code? Quite possibly.

Is Esperanto a more efficient language than English? It sure is.

Did Esperanto displace English as a language or did the inertia of the "installed base" make English more successful?

Both strategies have their strong points, time and relative quality of execution will demonstrate which is the more effective.
