JDN, I read the article with Welch and McNealy and it was not my impression that Scott has any desire to leave SUNW. He is using his position at GE to see how to make SUNW grow as big and well organized as GE. With 37000 employees at SUNW now, Scott realized he needed new management skills. He went to the best, GE which has something in the order of 300000 employees.

It was the reporter who threw out the idea of taking Welch's place. Neither commented. Scott adds to GE in defining the internet age while at the same time Scott can see how to bring SUNW's bright future to fruition.

I'd say, this points to SUNW eventually bringing the computer to the infrastructure of the world the way GE brought light and electricity.

All the best,
Michael
