Jim, <Is it true that Intel is eliminating the embedded CPU serial number? Now where are those guys that defended it?> Intel got rid of the serial number because it became obsolete, not to address the fears of the extremist "Big Brother"-phobes. I've always said that there are better ways to implement digital authentication than with the CPU ID number. But I also said that those who were opposing the serial number due to privacy concerns were lunatics. Tenchusatsu
