<< Is that why some politicians are trying to steal a six year old from his father? >> In 1962 there were 14,000 Cuban children who fled Cuba, without their parents, in order to escape the cruelty of Castro; leaving behind another 50,000 children, who's parents were willing to sacrifice themselves to send their children to freedom, in the U.S. It was called Operation Pedro Pan. In Elian's case, your use of the word "stealing" is totally wrong, and you know it. The Miami Cuban family wanted Elian to live free, and felt additional pressure to keep Elian free, due to his mother's last wishes, before she died. They held out, against hope, that somehow Juan's family would be able to join Elian as free people. Sadly, this will not come to be. But, to condemn victims of Castro's brutal regime, without regard to their passions and sufferings under Castro's tyranny, is wrong and shows lack of compassion on your part. |
