Castro could care less if Elian lived or died. Castro forced tens of thousands of his captive Cuban people into the streets, in a circus atmosphere, while Elian's mother's dead body was decomposing at the bottom of the ocean, because she dared to dream about living in freedom. But, to the Miami Cuban Exile community, this was not a game, it was real life. Elian was a real child. The free Cuban community desired to help Elian remain free. That was their only objective at first. Tens of thousands of Cubans have died trying to flee, from the perverted and cruel ruler Castro, so that they might live in cherished freedom. Do you feel that the exiles, who have made it to freedom, would want any less for Elian?
