But, there are always exceptions. << The pathetic behavior of both the Mayors has made me ashamed of our leadership. >> When has anyone ever been proud of Miami's politicians? << This Elian/Castro obsession has brought division to Miami. That is poor payback to the Americans who welcomed the Cubans to America. >> Did you really think that the Miami family was going to ship Elian back to Castro, when Elian's father wouldn't come 90 miles to see his son? The signals were mixed. They knew that Elian's mother had given her life to bring Elian to freedom. Shipping Elian back to an uncaring father, and to Castro's tyranny, would have been a cruel slap in the face to Elian's dead mother.
