Have I missed anything?

Yes, you have missed the entire content of both of my posts. None of your 'reasons' have any pertinence to the discussion at hand. It is easy to set up strawmen and knock them down, but that's just mental masturbation which is, unfortunately, all to common on SI.

Here's the crux of the matter:

The my.mp3.com service:

1) does not steal or pirate music
2) does not violate the intent of copyright law
3) does not hurt copyright owners
4) DOES enable consumers to have better LEGAL access to music

The fact that you seem content to set up strawmen and knock them down instead of making a cogent rebuttal, is good enough for me, it means you don't really understand the issues.
