On Pat, GG, and Avanex

I'm not sure how Pat got on the topic of Avanex (perhaps redirected emotions from the Terayon vs Com21 debate). I do remember Pat from the Amati thread years ago (I still follow the xDSL sector and things are looking up! finally). While her research and passion is laudable, there is also risk in the zealot. If Pat doesn't even subscribe to the GTR her recent diatribes regarding the integrity of Gilder and his perspective on technology are vacuous. It seems she's now caught up in the 'Pluvian' approach (with lessons from the Terayon thread no doubt). By citing negative snippets from the Avanex S10 and concluding its a poor investment reflects her misunderstanding of the 'purpose' of the GTR. Avanex was added to list because of its technology for improving the functionality of the 'all optical network' vision. The GTR is not designed to make recommendations on timing or valuation (no one can time the market, at least GG admits it). Avanex has a potent technology with disruptive implications. period. Keep your eye on it if it looks interesting. Pick up a few shares if you're completely convinced. Or forget about it completely and focus your attentions elsewhere. The premeditated subterfuge Pat is attributing to George Gilder and his newsletter is fantasy. fwiw jeremic
