"After we got the initial half-hour burst of euphoria out of the way, the Dow
and the S&P started to sag, and the Nasdaq came off its highs. Nevertheless,
buying was still around in the most beloved of all indices, the Sox, which was
up 3 percent in the early going, even as other areas, like bank stocks, were
down a couple percent. Folks who insist on buying companies at 20 times
revenues and 70 times earnings in the face of rising interest rates will find
out the hard way - it's a long way down from here when these things finally
start heading that way.
