haqihana, it amazes me to see so many people naive to what a communist country is truly like. For instance, people will say, "what proof do you have that Elian is being brainwashed"? (The inclination to apply our own rules of behavior on Cuba is very strong). The proof is in the stories told by thousands upon thousands of people who fled the country and risked their life climbing onboard rickety boats to escape. The forced Cuban "indocrination" (brainwashing) is not an uncommon story.

It's a sad day for America when we're willing to assist a communist country and allow a small boy to be brainwashed on our very own soil.

We're not some two-bit country tortured over the beliefs and decisions of freedom. We're supposed to be the beacon of FREEDOM for the entire WORLD! That beaconing light is duller today because of what Clinton/Gore/Reno have done. Especially if we allow the boy to be transported back to the prison hell known as Cuba without so much as a court hearing.

People (especially liberals) will talk about how wrong child labor is. Well, guess what? Child labor is running rampant in Cuba today.

Some people simply refuse to believe that a government could be so cruel and inhumane toward it's people. Many probably refused to believe in the atrocities of Hitler as well.

A law abiding family had their house ransacked by a militia force sent by the government without a court order, and we say....it's ok, the ends justify the means! They supposedly came to deport an illegal alien? How is that? the 11th circuit had already ruled the INS couldn't deport the child until his asylum request had been adjudicated. So, why did the armed force snatch the boy? The answer is simple. It was a political decision, not a decision based on what was best for the boy. And certainly not one based on the rule of LAW!

The 4th amendment has been trashed and spit on. While educated Americans sit around and talk about fatherly rights. What about fatherly and motherly rights of the Cuban Americans who left their kids in Cuba and escaped to freedom. Do you think Castro will send their kids to America to be with them! Hell no!

So, in another week, month or year, another young mother will be left with making the tortured decision of risking her life, and the life of her children by getting in a raft and paddling 90 miles to FREEDOM to escape the prison HELL known as Cuba.

Everyone who supports the way this has been handled is culpable for their deaths, as well as the hundreds of deaths Castro is sure to cause shooting people as they try and escape tyranny.
