Don't blame the government. MSFT has created this through their horrible management and vision over the last 4-5 years. George Gilder predicted this decline and MSFT's progressive technological irrelevance 5 years ago. The business practices they utilized in attempting to extract themselves from this advancing irrelevance and their reactionary mode landed them in jail. This company has little vision and even less innovation. It is a "monopolistic leach" on the Yankee ingenuity engine which created the PC revolution. MSFT's motto "Freedom to Innovate" should be replaced with "Freedom to Leach and Consume Other's Innovation". The InterNet has been a large contributor to the continuing technological irrelevance of MSFT as the previous hugely successfull MSFT "spin engine" (which worked well for the ill-informed consumers pre-InterNet) is exposed more and more by the communications and "leveling" of the knowledge playing field of this fantastic media.
