I don't think that socialism should be lumped in with fascism and communism. The latter two are inherently tyrannical whereas socialism is a legitimate way for countries to operate their economies as is capitalism. I think it's inferior to capitalism because of it's tendency to gravitate toward the mediocre, but I think it could be effective in a homogenous country like Sweden. It would be a disaster in the U.S.

I do, however, take your point about seducing people with promises of sharing. Mishandled, socialism can turn into communism. Of course, capitalism, mishandled, can turn into oppression by the moneyed class. Which all goes to show, you can't take things for granted.
