Ausdauer, my apologies if I struck a sore spot but, in my mind, any company that sell cars is competing with GM, anyone who make laundry soap is competing with Procter & Gamble .. and any company who sells CF cards is competing with SNDK.

The fact that SSTI isn't taking much market share from SNDK today doesn't mean that they aren't planning to do so tomorrow. SSTI, like SNDK, holds patents on an ATA flash bus and has an established client base. It doesn't take a huge mental leap to presume that they would try to leverage their position inside devices into sales of removable devices.

I never supposed that SSTI would supplant SNDK as the leading supplier of flash memory for the consumer marketplace. But however "world class" it may be to tell the world that your company encourages competition, beating the competition at every turn is something that inspires smart managers to work late.

Craig

PS Imagine if it had been SSTI instead of SNDK who invested in the foundry which was later purchased by UMC.
