Storage Infrastructure will be the next revolution ...

SAN and NAS are complementary technologies to support storage needs.

Both technologies are viable business models.
Fiber channel is the building block for SAN.
SAN is similar to what happened to the early days of LAN.
Interoperability is the major issues in SAN. Hubs, Switches, Cards, etc

You will TANs (Tape area networks) , before we consolidate storage.

Storage Management is going to be a challenge in SAN.

NAS , on the other hand is an appliance on the LAN. It is easy to install, support, manage , RAS, etc.

Gigabit ethernet will be reality soon..
Both will technologies will be around for a long time.
SAN and NAS...
