Gene, <I'd like your comments on this new Inquest report on DDR vs Dual channel Rambus.>

What's there to say? Some of the benchmarks I've never even heard of, and those are the benchmarks which supposedly has the Micron Samurai DDR platform beating 840 dual-RDRAM platform by huge margins. Perhaps a little picking-n-choosing here?

The other benchmarks I have heard of shows DDR "demonstrating" only a slight edge over dual-channel RDRAM. What's even more peculiar is that some of them don't agree with what GameSpot saw in their tests:

gamespot.com

For example, Bert McComas says that DDR beats dual-channel RDRAM in the game Expendable by 2.0% to 2.3%. Yet GameSpot shows that DDR fell behind even single-channel RDRAM (820 chipset) in Expendable, from 2.1% in the "average" score, to a whopping 28.3% at 1024x768x32. And there were other games which showed a dead heat between DDR and single-channel RDRAM, which obviously paints a much different picture than the one-sided picture that Mr. McComas paints.

In short, I would take Mr. McComas' article with an economy-sized grain of salt.
