Yes, in 1936 Germany, a family who defied Hitler would sit around in a Berlin home for weeks "negotiating" terms with Heinrich Himmler. Then, Hitler would have taken the action he wanted to take, and leave the negotiating family to just get back to their business.

You people who compare the U.S. to Nazi Germany are appallingly ignorant of that era, and insult the memory of the millions who were shot, gassed and starved to death (babies were not spared!). Are you aware of the Nazi games in which fathers were forced to deflower their pre-teen daughters? Of the medical experiments where young children had their testicles removed, and then were required to eat them, before being injected with typhus. Of the babies thrown in the air and shot like skeet? Of the gypsies hung on meat hooks, slowly and agonizingly bleeding to death, with signs around their necks that said: "Dog meat--10 DM/lb."

Oh yes, we are just like Nazi Germany here. Find another analogy, please, you're insulting 40 million innocent ghosts.
