saukriver,

<< The discussion on the AWE(ful) thread is so playful (although I am not sure the AWE-struck know it) that I cannot tell whether you are joking >>

I was indeed being playful (or attempting to be so) if not outright joking, and I figured I could get by without one of those grinny little emoticon things with you.

<< AWE-struck >>

GREAT term!

TDMA, YUK!

EDGE, however, I find to be very interesting. 3G in existing spectrum (which is, IMO, something of an oxymoron just as IS-2000 Release 1 is also 3G in existing spectrum and consequently also an oxymoron).

I have bookmarked the AWE(ful) thread for comic release just as I have bookmarked the IDC thread for the same reason.

On a serious note, I would say, do not underestimate EDGE as a competitive technology to 3G-1X. The decision to buypass GPRS and advance packet switched technology to the limit of 2.5G technology was masterful, IMO.

As for tracking stocks I avoid them.

As for carriers I generally do not invest in them (although I fortuitously took advantage of the special opportunity afforded by OMPT and VSTR last year and got out of WCOM at the proper time, which was about the time LindyBill likened them or carriers in general to public utilities ).
