Karen, it's your attitude, and those like it, that scares me personally, not the INS. It bothers me that in these good economic times, people seem willing to give up their freedoms. Like a horse that lets itself get caught for a carrot, it seems that people can't think beyond the immediate future.

Read the Fourth Amendment. There is supposed to be a process by which the guarantees of the Bill of Rights are taken from someone. Not by decree of the king or his minions. The idea of "probable cause" is a longstanding protection of common people from the powers of the state.

If the articles of the Bill of Rights are trashed, one by one as they are now, we will soon be under authoritarian rule. At least, that's the direction we're headed, and the slope is slippery.
