Eddy would suggest to you and all to read the articles in the issue of April 28 of Business Week how GE, LU SBC,IBM and many other companies play with the pension funds to smooth earnings.

GE has $16.9 BILLION surplus stashed for that and already reported $1.4 billion from pension gains as operating earnings from those surpluses to show earnings growth wen actually there was a meager earnings growth. ($1.4 Billion were over 9% of total operating income)

So the remaining $16.9 Billion is plenty of dough for further earning smoothing.

Now I think that Karl Marx was right in his writings about the Capitalist society over 100 years ago. How unfortunate that Lenin screwed it all up with his sick interpretations.
