RICH, MSFT HAS IT COMING!

Sorry, but I feel pretty strongly about this. I have done odd bit of programming. My background was with VMS (DEC) and I chose to use Macintosh at home- because I don't pay myself by the hour!

I can not begin to tell you how many dirty tricks I've seen MSFT do to smother a competitor using the OS as the whip, club, or poison dart.

If you do not use another operating system, then you have no idea how much better Windows or Word could be for you if only MSFT had to compete fairly.

I think the breakup will be good for everyone but Bill Gates. Bill's dream of total world domination has been scratched, and he may not be as rich as his arch-rival Larry Ellison, but he isn't going hungry. Division is two is quite mild compared to what I would do- OS, Office, Other Software, and Networking/Misc.

A few years after the breakup, I think the quality of the products you can buy will be vastly improved by true competition. MSFT companies enjoy a head start in market share. They'll do fine.
