Operating system. Your son is correct. If buying a "Wintel" machine or laptop, Dell is the one. But from a stability standpoint Apple machines are and always have been superior to anything microsoft has ever done. The problem with Apple has always been application. If that issue could be resolved I think they would own the PC market. Their machines are easier to use and more user friendly. They are also much easier to upgrade....it's true plug and play instead of plug and pray.
