Maybe so, but unlike the American poor of 1900, the third world poor know that a much, much better world exists beyond their
own. So if we don't want world anarchy and/or every poor world citizen at our doorstep, then it may be best that we help them
up the corporate ladder.

I'm not sure what exactly you mean by "helping them up the corporate ladder" or how it relates to my post which was
about child labor in third world countries.
As for helping poorer countries develop, the best way would probably be free trade, as it will help us and them. Direct aid is often wasted by coruption or otherwise mismanaged. Even in the best cases it still has the problem that it tends to increase the size and power of the country's government more then it tends to promote competitive industry.
